Dogtooth Violet has been around for what motherswould chalk to about 24 months, and has grown tobe a different kind of band.When dtv started, they were sans drums and bass,but they were guitars-A-plenty. Gilles and Chris@ smugglers cove open stage in Victoria, (Saturdayafternoons 1-5). They met their lower end, Dave Childs, and went on playing with variousdrummers and percussionists, including Dave'sbro, Martin.In April 98, dtv played their first gig withSonnenblume and ThinKing at Steamers Pub inVictoria. Their new drummer of 3 days, Darren Clarke, did the favour of learningthe songs and played great. *(Hey Darren, werecently played with the drummer from ThinKing and he forgives you for bleeding on his kit!)After a couple of shows, Darren left the band,and the current drummer, Dave Nowotniak, joinedand didn't go away. The four-piece dtv played alot of shows, improving, as it is rumoured, with every performance.dogtooth violet started recording bed tracks fortheir CD "dogtooth violet" in Summertime 99, andlearned what work was needed to be done to be agood band.... with the help of "Swiss Army Guy"Mike Callewaert. |
