Artist History
"Their message is their faith. Their goal is to inspire people to their positive message. The band members of "Behind The Seen" seek to be one of the premiere Christian rock groups in circulation, and with their previous huge turnouts at the Oceanside Amphitheater and The Galaxy Concert Theater, they're well on their way. Formed nearly two years ago by singer James Hartman, drummer Josh Hall, and bassist Micah Loughman, the unit found their final member in guitarist Wayne Miller. Together they formed 'Behind The Seen' with hopes that perhaps their music would change the lives of those who listen. 'People come up to us saying there's something magical about us being on stage,' Miller said. 'It's because we are doing it for God.' Their name is their tribute to their faith, 2nd Cor. 4:18. Being a Christian band to them is as important to them as the music they play. 'With secular bands their is no purpose,' Miller said, 'One of the reasons our band is unified is because we have a purpose: to glorify God.' With a message to faith, 'Behind The Seen strives to inspire people to its message, as well as satisfy the crowd's thirst for fun. 'There's more bad stuff then good stuff out there,' Hall said. 'We want to show people there's an alternative.' Describing Behind The Seen's sound is a hard task. Mixing together various forms of classic rock, alternative, punk, and ska, the band can only speculate as to what genre their music molds to. 'We have both Christian and secular songs. But our music is like a whole 'new direction.' Hall said, smiling. For the band members music is vital to them as their faith. All coming from highly musical families, the band members have the dedication to make it work. 'Whenever we have free time we're at band practice,' Hartman said. With their drive for success and their faith as their message, the members of Behind The Seen seek through their music to inspire those who come to their shows to have some good clean fun. 'We glorify God through our music," Hall said. 'And without music life would be empty.' |

Press Reviews
'Behind The Seen' blessed with success By: Christian Ortiz Assistant Photo Editor The LariatMarch. 16th, 2000 In addition to their many successful gigs, the Christian Rock group Behind the Seen has just released its first album with Headway ComplexRecords. With a self-titled album on its back and a good handful of Christian roadies, such as Jason Mahle, 18, student, Behind the Seen earned the popularity to attract the attention of Absolute/Tooth N' Nail records as well. Presently as new contractees with the record label and being managed by Bill Jones, the young group gained a better opportunity to spread its music nationwide. "As a band, our goal is to inspire people through our service to God," said Wayne Miller, Behind the Seen guitarist. The band was formed two years ago by singer James Hartman, currently attending Saddleback college, drummer Josh Hall, and bassist Micah Loughman, both students at Capo Valley Christian High School. Later, the band found guitarist Wayne Miller, who attends Saddleback. As Saddleback students, Miller and Hartman chose to pursue their hobby and become music majors. Together, Miller and Hartman plan on broadening their knowledge in the field as well as learning new techniques for future song writing purposes. "One of the reasons our band is unified is because we have a purpose: to glorify God," Miller said. During its performances, the band tends to attract a diverse and growing crowd ranging between the ages of 16-25. Known only by word of mouth and good management, the band can look forward to a bright future |
