Artist description
8Bit mingles elements of techno, hip-hop and acoustic instruments in ways that provoke ass-shaking. Some tracks have been described as aggressive yet stil musically contemplative expression. Taking time to make a track is central during the creative processes and it has taken up to a year to produce one track. Full on immersion into the music requires an embracing of technique and ones own faults. 8Bit recognizes these ontological aspects of making music - especially electronic - and has consequently produced journeys into the subconscious navigated by a distorted 909 and meticulously crafted sonic atmosphere. |

Artist History
Cihan Kaan, who was named 8Bit after an all-night psychedelia induced Frankie Bones Brooklyn outlaw (the notorious STORM RAVES), circa 1993, when Oliver Chesler (aka The Horrorist/Temper Tantrum/Disintergrator of Industrial Strength Records) heard an early demo he created entirely on the Amiga 500. Unbenounced to Mr. Chelsler, Cihan 8bit had sampled, manipulated and arranged the entire mixdown using the 8Bit outputs of the ancient 68000 Amiga box. Thus the name and music began. Since then, several international relseases from Digital Hut Records and other various CD compilations have come out and 8Bit continues to create tracks from the 8bit Labz studio in Rockaway Beach,NY. No longer simply using the outputs of the outdated amiga - he is now equipped with a full arsenal of prototype 303z, samplers and other machines as well as acoustic instruments. 8Bit may have come from a lost era in time however the music continues to evolve under the premise that (as Willy Wonka put) ,'We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of the dream.' |
