Artist History The story about Third Attempt took its beginning around 1998. The band then consisted of three members, namely Nico, Henrik and Rikard. The thing is that Henrik didn´t quite feel like pulling the base strings, but rather the so much more sweet sounding guitar strings. Obviously Nico (with his impeccable solo guitar career behind him) was the favourable alternative to play the lead guitar, so it had to be rythm guitar for Henrik.However, one more thing had to be settled in order to complete the most promising version of a punkrock band since the early Bad Religion era. The base issue. The band´s first choice fell on the shoulders of Mr. Mattias Carlströmer, who actually used to play the base in the even earlier days, the Soft days that is. But one major problem stood in their way. Mr. Carlströmer (also known as Flarne von Flöjer) had tinnitus. Since he took his disease seriously, the band had to find someone else.Eager to find someone, Henrik called up Tobias (also known as Båtne). Henrik, Mattias and Tobias (and Ursula) used to play together in the splendid band Y-front before this period, but Tobias had never played the base before. Still he accepted the offer, and about two weeks later the band performed on Stadsscen in the quite boring town of Växjö.Later the same year, Henrik decided to go for a little walkabout in Australia for about six months. Without rythm guitar the band kept playing their punk songs in the same melodious fashion. But even at this early stage a small tendency towards slower and more pop-sounding tunes was quite evident. The following year the band recorded their first record (and so far the only one. It contains six songs and goes under the title First class. The record could maybe be characterized as half punk, half pop/rock. But perhaps you should listen to it and make up your own mind. As time went by the lack of a rythm guitar became more and more disturbing. So finally Mr. Carlströmer ignored his tinnitus, bought expensive earplugs, and with the occasional use of timber-guy ear-protections (eller va fan det heter) he was able to join the band.It´s quite fair to say that Third Attempt has evolved into more of a poprockpunk band, than a punkrockpop band. The coming records will probably reveal this even more. So keep your eyes and ears open this summer. A record may be waiting in the stores, just for you.(The narcissism inherent in the text above is purely accidental.)
