Artist description
The Happytones make every effort, and spare no expense, to create music that inspires and stimulates, appealing simultaneously to the better angels of human nature and to the universal urges to make noise, break things, and over indulge in immediate gratifications. The lyrical content of the songs is sometimes depressing, as these urges are laid bare, even while the overall mood of the songs is upbeat, and the rhythms infectiously danceable. This incongruity, one might call it aesthetic tension, appears, regrettably, to be a permanent feature of the signature Happytones sound -- arguments, fist fights, and promises to do better notwithstanding. |

Artist History
The Happytones began as a good time, frat house party band. Customer feedback caused the band to reconsider this path and to question their collective identity. While saving up to buy replacement instruments and gear, The Happytones entered into a period of quiet introspection, emerging as the powerful creative force they are today. Determined to stick together through thick and thin, The Happytones soldiered bravely into the gaping maw of their collective fate. Then a bunch of other stuff happened. The Happytones eventually evolved into a loosely affiliated group of marginalized loners who strive to attain some measure of redemption and release through music, even in the wake of intrusive legal and psychiatric problems. |

Group Members
The Happytones are an ongoing collaboration, where new members are added as old members disappear, are expelled, storm off in a snit, go back to school, die, or become unavailable due to incarceration or hospitalization. Studio musicians and electronic devices are used as needed to fill in for missing and uncooperative band members, otherwise nothing would ever get done. The sensitive nature of the songs, the fragility of the band members' egos, and the instability of the make-up of the band preclude saying more. |
