Artist description
A five piece band, our sound builds off the blended rhythms of congas, drums, bass, and guitar with improvisational guitar leads. Heart felt vocals with tight harmonies fill our songs. Our sound marries melodic jazz, classic blues, and edge driven rock. This is the Stu Remley Band. |

Artist History
The Stu Remley Band evolved in Chicago, Illinois during the fall of 1999. Vocalist/guitarist Stu Robertson enticed vocalist/guitarist Joe Iudice, bassist Rick Harper, and drummer/percussionist Cliff Kennedy to put some songs he’d written on CD. Joe and Stu have been playing together since 1996 and pulled together a band called Groove Box Jack in 1997. This band featured Rick on bass, Matt Sokol on congas, and Pete Marx on drums. GBJ played off and on in Chicago bars and street fairs between 1997 and 1999 with Cliff joining early in 1998 when Pete left the band. By the winter of 1999, Cliff was down in Cuba studying percussion with local gurus of the island; Joe was experimenting with new guitar sounds through his new Mesa, Rick was adding a new bass to his collection while Stu was putting the finishing touches on lyrics and songs slated for the CD. In January, the band focused solely on finding the right sound and format for the songs in the basement of Cliff’s house. Back in Colorado, honorary member and Stu’s lifelong friend, Hank Beach practiced along with ruff band recordings made in Cliff's basement. Hank and Stu have been writing and playing songs together since 1993, and Stu had recently added some guitar and vocals on Hank’s first CD, entitled Dog Days, that was released in November of 1999. (Dog Days can be purchased at www.cagefreerecords.com) On March 11 and 12, the band laid down the backbone of the CD at Rax Trax Recording studios in Chicago. The CD was released on September 16 at the Beat Kitchen in Chicago. The CD can be bought on-line through their website at www.sturemleyband.com or at any Stu Remley Band show. |
