    Artist description
Band Bios: Andrew Cherry: One of the founding members, wrote, played guitar and sang lead during the band years, and now in the recording years also fills in any other gaps where needed such as drum programming, engineering, or bass. Lives in Ajax, plays hockey and golf, has a family, and a great career. Best Lyric: "Captain Stubing has run away with your wife" Joe Cacioppo: The other founding member, wrote, played bass, then keys, and sang backup during band years, as well as performed most of the in-between song stand up comedy. Lives in Whitby with his wife and son, and beats Andy senseless at hockey each week. Best Lyric: "You're playing with fire, and it's raining gasoline" Clayton Browne Band member from 1988 to 1991, played guitar and sang backing vocals. Gave the band the Metal Look all by himself. Allegedly urinated in the dressing room at Lee's Palace. OK, not allegedly, he actually did it. Married, lives in Ajax, works in marketing in downtown Toronto. Most used line: "Distortion? You call that distortion?" Scott McLean Band member from 1988 to 1991, in charge of drums, the jam space, and driving the rest of the band crazy. We do not know of his whereabouts today. Most used line: "Stop looking at my girlfriend" Rich "Reechard" Stone Member of the recording era band from 1993 to the present. Plays keys, some bass, and writes. Best Lyric: "Phone sex lady" Sean Lavery Member of the recording era band from 1993 to the present. Sings some lead and backup, and writes. Graduated from University of Toronto with music degree, although this does over-qualify him for the band. Voted most likely to actually have a career in music.

    Artist History
Broken Silence: The Story So Far With a career highlighted by a gig at Toronto's infamous El Mocambo, a club whose former guests included the Rolling Stones, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Billy Idol, the band Broken Silence got its start in 1987. Formed by Andrew Cherry and Joe Cacioppo in the early days of university after months of jamming, Andy wrote the music and recorded the song "Nobody's Business" from a set of Joe's lyrics, and the ball was rolling. The first full demo, the Joe Spivey tape, led to the recruitment of Clayton Browne on (loud) guitar and Scott McLean on drums. Known as First Glance at the time, the band started with a monster gig (400+ people) at, of all places, a golf club, which ended with a stage front brawl. This led to a series of gigs at locals bars, and more demo tapes. The set list at this time consisted of about one-third original songs, and two-thirds covers by such bands as the Stones, INXS, and David Wilcox. Under this name, the band performed local gigs in east Toronto and Durham region, at such venues as the Sub Pub, Joxx, and O'tooles. The next demo tape was written and recorded as a band. By this time the band had changed its name to Broken Silence. Why? As memory serves, First Glance was an April Wine album, and this combined with covering "Tonight is a Wonderful Night" by April Wine led many to believe we were an April Wine cover band. So a new name was chosen, with input from all members. Eric Ratz, on bass, joined the group, with Joe moving full time over to keyboards. This demo had an edgier sound, with more keyboards and stronger writing. This led to gigs in downtown Toronto at the above mentioned ElMo, as well as Lee's Palace, the Siboney Club, and the Riv. As a performing group, these were definitely the golden days, with lots of rowdy friends showing up at gigs and helping out. At this point, the band's progress stalled. Members were pulled in different directions by school, careers, girlfriends, and other interests. This was the end of the group's live performances. Clayton and Scott drifted away, but Andy and Joe stayed close, recording the I'm For Hire demo and the Just a Dream CD demo with old friends Richard Stone and Sean Lavery. More recordings to follow!
