Artist History
18 and 15 years ago, respectively, Paul and Eric Tillberg were ejected from the womb into a cold, hard world of misery. To relax, they battled The Hun, who was constantly at the door, relentlessly. This, of course, necessitated a substantive feat of time travel, due to her nonexistence as of some several decades previous. These small fits of insanity provided much needed relief from the rigors of not practicing too much and worrying over the state of things. As retroactively self-appointed Ruler of the Universe, Paul began writing relatively existent guitar and piano music somewhere in maybe tenth grade. This evolved slowly, sometimes at the behest of the music of Bach and Mozart (and eventually Shostakovich), to the bizarre amalgamation which it is today. To use the word bizarre is, however, somewhat misleading because it might lead one to believe that I find his music bizarre, which I most certainly do not. Other early influences include Metallica.Eric began playing double bass in sixth grade. He also lived in the bass for a short period in the early 30s, again time traveling with the aid of his twisted sensibilities. He began disliking the bass guitar about two years ago and took to drinking heavily until his bass guitar looked like a double bass.In the beginning of eleventh grade, Paul wrote a piece for the Museum of Jurassic Technology, which was recorded during his freshman year of college. This piece, entitled “X-Ray Flowers”, was possibly, although not necessarily, the first project which he and Eric worked together on. Subsequent projects include, but are by no means limited to, the landscaping of their front yard and subsequent invasion of an unsuspecting neighbor’s yard, starting with her sprinkler system. They also played in a band for a while, the name of which is not entirely clear. Then came the circus, a totally unrelated and, incidentally, untrue matter. After eleventh grade, Paul left high school and went to USC. Yes folks, he’s a high school DROPOUT! He applied to the composition major there twice but both times witnessed the awesome, unmitigated force of a system designed for the betterment of YOUR musical life, designed to purify it of tainted “others”. The selection committee members (yes, PH.D.S!), displaying to the fullest the rights and abilities afforded them by a small piece of (most likely) parchment colored paper, declined him both times, thereby asserting their own incredible personal worth and right to continued existence. Following these liberating experiences, Paul and Eric began to play together more. After several games of Monopoly they decided to actually play music. They listened to some Frank Zappa and Mike Patton music and the rest is history. Actually the rest isn’t history yet, since it hasn’t happened yet. And the rest is yet to be seen. And hopefully heard. |
