Artist description
A blend of diverse influences lend Silent Men it's unique musical flavor. Herwin Abel, lead vocalist and bass player, is originally from the Island of Haiti. He posses a powerful tenor voice, an uncanny ear for melodic hooks and is a master of subtle rhythmic nuance. Loren West, lead guitar and vocals, is originally from the Upper West Side of Manhattan. His clean, understated guitar hooks give the band it's signature sound and his lyrics give the songs their aura of romantic desolation. Tom Currier, keyboards and bass, is from the Upper East Side of NYC. His exacting musicianship and unique arrangment ideas flesh out the sound of the band giving it depth and complexity. Johnny Rose, drummer extrodinaire, was born on the tougher side of Brooklyn. His rifle shot snare sound is the heartbeat of Silent Men and his dead on timing has earned him the nickname; "the human clock". |

Artist History
Born in the pre-grunge alternative movement of the 1980s, when MTV still played music videos and had fewer commercials, Silent Men were denizens of the New York City club scene. For a while they were managed and produced by Hilly Krystal, owner of CBGBs, the renown mecca of Punk and New Wave on the Lower East Side of New York. Many of the songs available on this sight were recorded at CBGS in the wee hours of the morning after the last band had loaded out and before the hapless janitor came to sweep up the broken bottles and cigarette butts. Although they are no longer active playing the club scene, all four band members remain friends and are musically active. Will there be a reunion? Who knows? Drop us an e-mail and cast your vote! |
