Artist History
With a powerful clarity similar to some of the blues and rock greats, and the sincerity of Sarah McLachlan, Patricia King taps into her heart and her heritage to connect with her audience in a way that is hard to put words to, but is easily found in her music. Born and raised deep in the heart of Galveston County, Texas "Trish" continues a legacy of music that was passed down beginning three generations before her. Her father is the legendary Pee Wee Bowen, a regional dynamo in the Houston/Galveston Blues scene for over 35 years. His late mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Bowen, graced the stages and grand ballrooms of Galveston Island, including the Famous Balinese Room and the Flagship hotel, in its '50's heyday. Trish's Great Grandmother, Vashti "Sweet Mamma" Bowen, taught a young Pee Wee to sing "I Believe" at her piano. Five short years ago, Trish realized a dream and finally accepted her Father's long-standing offer to perform with him and his band, The Fabulous Moonlighters. Comments like "let the girl sing more" and chants of "Tricia, Tricia" are not uncommon at their gigs. |
