Artist History
Where it really began - Speir Mor: Pat's imposing figure atop the bar and that voice raising the roof off the place. "Speir Mor Live" is currently out of print and traded heavily among fans, as is an underground soundboard recording of the band's last gig at Paddy Reilly's in NYC. (Hey, if anybody ever collects the tapes of the entire show, we'd like a copy.) Pat then founded the group Paddy-A=GoGo with Chris Byrne and Eileen Ivers, that created a fusion sound of traditional Irish music and hip-hop. Enthusiastically received in NY's underground scene, they also met with acclaim in Ireland where they played Dublin's top venues, radio and performed on Irish TV's "The Kenny Live Show". "Big Brown Sofa" was Pat's solo debut, which charted well on college radio and led to a performance on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien". Pat, and his music, were also featured in the film and movie soundtrack of "Southie", directed by John Shea and starring Donny Wahlberg and Rose McGowen. Another of Pat's notable soundtrack works was on the HBO award-winning original film "A Bright Shining Lie", directed by Terry George and starring Bill Paxton. Whether peforming with a full band or with sequences in his stripped down solo shows, Pat consistently conveys his passion and talent in a way that instantly separates him from most performers. Pat's new album, "Love Songs for Astronauts" is scheduled for release November 2000. Catch him on tour. |
