    Artist History
Meg has lived and breathed music as a composer and performer ever since her early childhood days in a northern New Jersey suburb of New York City. She would lead the neighborhood kids in backyard song and dance shows, using the garage door for a stage curtain. But things changed at age twelve when her family moved to Manhattan.Meg immediately fell in love with the city and the excitement of its thriving music culture. The New York airwaves delivered heavy doses of rock, funk & soul music, and Meg loved it all. From Motown to Pink Floyd, Joni Mitchell to Genesis, and so much more, every day was full of music. She learned to play the guitar and attended every free concert in Central Park's Summer Series. During her teen years, Meg played in several bands, often with notable professionals such as Fred Maher (drummer of Scritti Politti and Lou Reed fame) and Michael "Billy" Beinhorn, (played keyboards with Herbie Hancock) and many others. Meg would sneak out at night to perform solo at open-mike nights at famous locales like Catch A Rising Star and The Improv, followed the bands at CBGB's and Max's Kansas City, or pop down to Lou Reed's regular gig at The Bitter End in Greenwich Village. After the show, Meg would stick around chatting with the performers, and sometimes found herself in the company of Debbie Harry, Patti Smith & Tom Verlain. The whole time, Meg wrote constantly and immersed herself in the poetry of Rimbaud, Baudelaire & Ginsburg. In time, she shifted gears and focused heavily on the musical roots of much rock n' roll, jazz and the blues. This required heavy daily doses of Robert Johnson, Big Mama Thorton, Big Bill Broonzy, Jimmy Reed and Billie Holiday. Meg keeps on writing, composing, singing and performing on the New York area coffee house circuit. Her long awaited debut CD on the Studio 415 label is scheduled for release in the summer of 2001.
