    Artist History
Originally from Albuquerque, Deian moved to New York in 1993. From his early concerts with a Brooklyn a cappella group, he has since become a popular solo performer on the indie nightclub and cabaret scene, performing in the USA, Europe and Australia. His debut CD, Mollyboy, was released in 1998. TWN Miami wrote, "he earns his diva card with this one!" Also that year, Girlfriends, a national women's glossy magazine, selected Deian as one of "America's Men We Love" along with other celebrities such as Antonio Banderas, Al Gore and Oscar de la Joya; Vice Magazine named him among their "Music Men for the New Millennium;" and Mollyboy also held the #1 album and #1 single for several weeks on the OUTVOICE online music charts. Following his 2000 tour in Australia, Deian completed his 2nd CD, Love & Other Distractions, a beautiful collection of cabaret love songs from his live show. "Deian's 2nd album showcases his way with a lyric... any listener will find him a thoroughly entertaining storyteller. His voice is in top form... buttery lower range and sincere delivery... a great album from a talented performer" (Back Street Arts). The album was released in April for limited distribution and is available for online purchase through www.cdbaby.com. In 2001, Deian was named OUTMUSICIAN OF THE YEAR by OutMusic, the international LGBT musician's network in the first annual OutMusic Members Choice Awards, the OMAs. Deian was also a nominee for Outstanding New Recording, Outstanding Legacy Recording and Outstanding Live Performer. Also in 2001, he received a prestigious MUSIC/OMI FELLOWSHIP from the Art/OMI organization. Deian is the only cabaret singer ever to be honored with this fellowship. In 2002, he received the coveted FRINGE CABARET AWARD at the Melbourne Fringe Festival in a show with the Adam Simmons Quartet.

    Press Reviews
Deian McBryde "moves effortlessly from sexiness to introspection; an exciting and inventive performer" (This Month On Stage), but just when you think you know him, he is instantly "perky, kooky, bubbly and dandy; an amalgam of George Michael and Sandy Duncan (HX Magazine).
