Artist description
Violent shouting and heart melting three part harmonies, a nitty-gritty rhythm guitar and a twangy barb wire Telecaster lead one, anarchistic Keith Moon style drums and a melodic Höfner bass. The Venue is deeply rooted (in fact almost drowned) in the glorious 6T's Merseybeat pop and rock'n'roll. OK, millions of bands are, but the Venue's got songs as well the sound! |

Artist History
While living in Paris and Belfast (and having no
band), Jonas Thorell started to purify the sixtiesness
in his song-writing. On moving back to Stockholm,
Sweden, he called up the two friends of his most
addicted to early sixties stuff (one of them,
just par hazard, happening to be his brother). With Jonas' and Anders' mid brother Fredrik Thorell joining on more vocals and tambourine and old timer jazz drummer Hans Ekman behind the kit, The Venue was complete. They recorded their 8 1/2 track CD "Mmhm!" in three nights and their lives began to change...
Yes indeed, things happen fast for these talented boys: They played Holland in October 2001, which lead to a US rep which lead to playing trade show South By South West in Austin, Texas in March 2002. A huge success - Rolling Stone's David Frick danced thru the whole set, and The Venue plans to go back to the US - California this time - in November 2002 or March 2003. |
