We're a bunch of dorks from New Orleans who formed a band. We sound like some softcore punk with some horns, so a little bit of ska. We sound most like The Impossibles, though I think we're pretty much in a class by ourselves. We have a lot of fun doing what we do and hope to deliever that entertainment to you. |

Artist History
The story of The Fraggles isn't one of drugs, sex, or abusive husbands. It tells of how a few guys just wanted to rock, had a few disappointments, but came back in the end to lay down some rockin' vibes. A long, long time ago in late 1999, Geoff Ward decided to make something of himself and start a band. The name: Free Shoes, coming from an ad for shoes that were 80% off that Geoff believed should have been free. Among the members of this oddly named band was David Falati, a bass player. Geoff Gauchet became an honorary member of the band as he was good at creating websites, and he liked to complain a lot. Brian Sourita was one of the horn players in this chaos known as Free Shoes. Soon Ward decided after a few practices that he no longer liked having horn players in the band and that he wanted to play bass. He didn't want to hurt the other members by telling them they're out of the band, so he and guitarist Owen Sketchler staged a break-up of the band. Of course Falati and Gauchet quickly heard of this news and David was a tad upset by this. Gauchet, not really being a member of the band, was indifferent about the situation. The remaining members of Free Shoes -- Geoff Ward, Owen, and Adam Shackelton (Drummer) -- reformed as The Kickouts, who have since disbanded. David wanted to start his own band soon after the slowly climbing success of The Kickouts. He had already chosen Steven Brien, who was in Geoff Ward's old band The Doppelgangers, as guitarist. He knew that he couldn't sing and that Steven couldn't sing. His job now was to find a singer. He decided to give Geoff Gauchet a call and see if he wanted the position. Geoff, being a terrible singer and public speaker, told David of his flaws and David simply replied: "So what? Have you listened to music lately? It doesn't matter if you can sing... no one can!" Geoff reluctantly agreed, but then began practicing by singing along with CDs. He had always wanted to be in a band, since it was cool, and he could write really good lyrics. Their next tasks were to find a drummer and a name. The name idea seemed easier. Their first name was "Useless," but someone already had that name. Geoff's idea of "Three Legged Goat" didn't go over too well with the others. In this time Brian Sourita was summoned once again to play horns. Jacob Mayer, formerly of Free Shoes, was also asked to play horns in the band sometime after this period. More names were thrown around, but after their first practice Geoff Ward was there and offered "TGP 3" which stood for "Trendy Geek Punk 3." Geoff Gauchet didn't care for it too much, but David and Steven did. So that was it for quite some time. Then Geoff's now former girlfriend, Camille, suggested "Punkture." Geoff really liked it, and not just because his girlfriend suggested it. He suggested it to David the next day and he and Steven liked it too. They made a few modifications by spelling it "Punk Chur." Later that afternoon, after school, David said it sounded to death-metalish and said they were changing it. He suggested "The PEN15 Club." No. Geoff didn't like that at all. A quest for a new name began. Geoff went home and listed a bunch of names that came to mind. Among them were "SDI" (Stratigical Defense Initiative) and "American Made Punks" (AMP). Geoff forced AMP on them and that was the new name. But once again, David and Steven wanted to change it. David came up with "The Leftouts," but that sounded to much like fellow band The Kickouts. So a few variations were suggested and they arrived at "The Leftovers." Why "The Leftovers?" It comes from the fact that they are what's "leftover" from Free Shoes. Then a dark cloud hovered over the heads of the five pubescent rockers. Brian never made it to any practices. This caused some conflicts with the rest of the band. Should he stay, or should he go? If he stays there will be trouble, if he goes it will be double. The decision was unanimous -- Brian was no longer in the band. Brian was a tad discouraged at the decision as he had previous engagements and could not make it. But if any other member had done the same, he would receive the same sentence. But alas, more controversy hits The Leftovers. Nick (Point 07) informed the boys that there are "not one, but TWO bands named The Leftovers." So once again, they searched for a new name. Even more names were thrown around. After about 20 names were picked up, the band decided to put a poll on their website so people could vote on a name. But oddly enough they chose a name Geoff came up with that was not on the poll. The name: The Fraggles, coming from those kick-ass Jim Henson muppets in Fraggle Rock. Soon after a name was chosen and Brian's services were no longer needed, David decided that his cousin Danny should come and play trumpet for them. Months later, their brother band, The Kickouts, broke up. Each member went their separate ways, but Adam Shackleton, their drummer, decided that his way was with The Fraggles. The line-up now included Geoff Gauchet (vocals), David Falati (bass), Steven Brien (guitar), Adam Shackleton (drums), and Jacob Mayer (trumpet). After much hard work, vestigial/honorary members were added. Scott Loup, known simply as "The Band Bitch," and Thomas Budde, "Asshole Fraggle." David changed his name to "Dave Fraggle," while Jacob changed his to "Jake Fraggle." Steven, being the smallest in the band, thought the ironic "Mr. Fraggle" suited him best. Adam's name was then shortened to the simple, yet to-the-point, "Shack." Geoff's name was changed many times (Syd Down, Geofff) but it has finally arrived at geo.fff. Will it change again? Chances are good. So now between 5 and 7 New Orleanians work their hardest to bring you the best in ska, punk, or whatever the hell it is they play. |
