Artist description
Survivors? Bentwood Rocker? These guys are the true survivors. No tropical island, no sun and sand, no camera crew following every move, and no million dollar jackpot. Bentwood Rocker has survived the music business!!!They survived 20 years of touring in the freezing Canadian winters, backstabbing booking agents, (crooked) smiling record executives, "B" band trauma on stage and they are still going! The business of music could not pigeon hole this band into a tidy marketing package to sell to mainstream America. And the band still refuses to compromise. They are more than grooves, image and attitude. Their songs, often referred to as the "Greatest Rock Never Heard", have a wide sonic range from soft ballads, pure pop, tongue-in-cheek tunes, progressive rock, to flat out rock screamers. What started out as neighbour kids having fun with old beat up guitars and drums has turned into a group of serious musicians who have kept the fun and the love of their music alive through years of adversity... their fans are grateful that they survived! |

Artist History
Laying claim to the title of Canada's longest surviving "in tact" rock and roll band, Bentwood Rocker continues to grind out great music and exciting live performances. Songwriters at heart, Bentwood has recorded a range of material that is truly impressive and the "Rockers" continue to create relevant artistically based music that stands the test of time. The group evolved from the band, "Sands of Time" which dissolved and reformed as "Bentwood Rocker" to write and record original material in their own studio. With the exception of adding guitartist extraordinaire, Barry Haggarty, in the early 80's, this band has remained "in tact". Great vocal harmonies, powerful lead vocals and exceptional musicianship are the hallmarks of Bentwood Rocker. Their first self produced album, "Not Taken" attracted the attention of producer, Jack Richardson (Guess Who, Bob Segar, Alice Cooper) and Quality Records in Canada. The second album, "Take Me to Heaven", was recorded at the famous Criteria Studio in Miami, finished back in Toronto and released worldwide. As the band headed "on the road" to promote the recordings, the record label shut down operations, leaving Bentwood Rocker to fend for themselves. After signing recording deals with other records companies, the band returned to the self produced mode with the release of the self titled, "Bentwood Rocker" CD. Their most recent release is a boxset called, "The Works" which includes all three previous albums/CDs plus unreleased recordings "Taken from the Vaults". |

Press Reviews
Just when you think you've heard it all, something great comes along. "The Works" by Bentwood Rocker is an anthology of material recorded over a twenty year period. The box set of 5 CD's contains 3 previous releases plus 2 CD's of unreleased material. If you like rock with a purpose, in the tradition of the "great artists" like Styx, Queen, the Beatles, the Cars, etc., you'll love this material. The previously released recordings demonstrate the band's wide range of vocal and instrumental talent. Listening to the unreleased songs is like discovering an unpolished diamond. This stuff is truly some of the "greatest rock & roll NEVER heard". |
