    Artist History
"Adrenachrome" is a progressive hard rock band based out of Lansing, MI. This seven-piece outfit consists of a vocalist, two guitar players, a bassist, a drummer and two electronic artists, giving "Adrenachrome" the foundation for music without any boundaries. With the core of the group beginning in December of 1995, the original members were able to win a Mid-Michigan battle of the bands in January of 1997 under the moniker "Adrenaline". This also led to the 1st track off the B.O.B. 1 compilation that was aired respectively in the Mid-Michigan area and even earned them an opening slot when TVT recording artists, "Sevendust" came to town. Soon after, the group was forced to modify their name to "Adrenaline31" for the horror movie soundtrack "The Night Divides the Day", directed by local filmmaker Jeff Burton. By now "Adrenaline31", decided it was time to record a full-length album which was titled "Where its @" in 1999. The Lansing State Journal voted this album in the top five cd releases in Michigan for 1999. In this same time frame the group was able to open for the likes of Jive recording artist's "(Hed) p.e" and the unforgettable "Vanilla Ice". They were also asked to be apart of Vertigo Productions "The Underground", compilation disk that featured such artists as "Papa Roach", "Alien Ant Farm", "Five Pointe O", and "Vent". All of which were unsigned bands at the time. On the down side of things, the group had to find a new bass player when the original bassist, Ken Taylor, was forced to leave the band due to the possibility of losing his hearing. This led to the current line up and final band moniker,"Adrenachrome". In January of 2000, "Adrenachrome began reinventing there sound based on the experience gained from their past combined with the idea of what was to be the future of their sound. By early summer "Adrenachrome" had a hand full of new songs with a fresh, new sound that held a unique vibe not often found. During which time "Adrenachrome" hit the Michigan circuit hard, playing gig after gig all over the area, even winning another Mid-Michigan battle of the bands some three years later. Thus, re-establish them as heavy hitters every time they were seen live. By the end of summer, "Adrenachrome", headed back into the studio to record two more tracks to be given away as demos. One of which ended up on the "Lot 49" compilation that featured various artists such as "The Blank Theory", "Dredge", "[minus]" and "Stemm". Since then, "Adrenachrome" have been diligently at work in the jam room writing and creating new music with the intent to record a new ep with a release do out sometime around mid-summer of 2002. The new sound is a fury of devastating guitars provided by riff masters Brad Downs (a.k.a. Biff Stiffler, a.k.a. Biff 2k2) and Dan Gokee (a.k.a. The Big Angry). The main focus in their department is to keep the guitars thick, moving, and ultra-heavy. With a drummer like Jon Kibby, that is not a problem. The drum tracks for the new songs are very intricate, very driving, and just all around bangin! Mr. Kibby has gone well above the call of duty on this one. His accomplice and partner in crime, Rusty Kalso does nothing but add thunderous low end and complimenting bass melodies that maintain the unity of the rhythm section. Vocalist Rocky Rodriguez has also stepped things up a notch or two displaying a much larger vocal range and wide variety of vocal styles, tones and textures. Lyrically, Rocky has also developed into a spokesman, accurately conveying the genuine emotion brought forth by the music. On the other side of the music spectrum, electronic artist's Eric Hansen and Dave Canfield have really found their place, giving "Adrenachrome's" music a certain atmosphere that it would not have without them. With just the right layering of samples, beats, and scratches, Dave has added yet another dimension to "Adrenachrome" that allows the group to head any direction they feel necessary. Eerie Eric on the other hand has now incorporated the use of strings and keys in the new songs lending a hand when it comes to melody and adding more harmonies to the overall sound of "Adrenachrome". With "Adrenachrome" currently recording their new ep at MPA studios in Canton, MI, with producer/engineer Chuck Alkazian behind the board, look for the rest of 2002 to simply be "the year of Chrome". 4-8-2002

    Press Reviews
Adrenachrome are a group formerly known as Adrenaline 31, who decided a name change was in order to reflect the new direction their material has taken. Judging from the 2 songs on this release, the decision was warranted as it finds them stepping out further from their rap metal roots and trudging into ambient emotional metal territory that lands them somewhere in-between the likes of Incubus and Machine Head. Sounding melodically stable with a sound similar to Still Life on one track and a more fast paced aggravated Rob Flynn like rap style on the other, the vocal role of frontman Rocky seems to be fairly well rounded as he has no problem hitting emotional notes with a few screams thrown in for good measure. Guitars show off spacey Incubus like riffs, heavy on effects and clean note plucks during the ambient opener "Think Up" before shifting to a more typical new metal approach with slightly crunchier riffs on the fast paced Silky Shabadues". Bass work comes to the forefront through occasional breakdowns and pumps out winding basslines mixed with a few slapped parts that help generate momentum, rather than establish a funk feel. Drums are hit with confidence, though the tone overall is a bit weak and distant, being somewhat lost in the mix, leaving the steady barrage of moderately tuned snare work to take the percussive reigns. The bands hidden strength though, comes in the form of two DJ/Programmers as the general atmosphere sculpted through the use of intriguing yet non intrusive ambient sounds help them cultivate an electronic aural environment that's sounds like a warmer version of the Deftones DJ Frank's latest efforts. Overall the band have talent and their music is an interesting hybrid of today's emo alternative metal with a very light touch of new metal oriented rapcore. The skilled electronic performances help brighten the music and give the songs a density and allure and the group seem to generally vibe off each other rather well. Still, there's a general looseness in place, with the songs not being as cohesive as they could which definitely saps some of the energy before it even gets to kick into high gear. The songwriting is also a bit rough in its current form, with the tracks sticking to part changes that seem a bit too comfortable, rather than challenging and utterly dynamic. But as it is, this seven piece definitely have a good foundation from which to build upon and if they are able to keep up their current progression and tighten the loose ends, their next batch of songs should surely get the adrenaline fully pumping.
