Artist History Formed in the summer of '99 by Dave Patterson and Pat Stevens with the intent to play music that was different to what any of their previous bands had done,which would've been a given as Dave had recently switched to guitar after playing bass for some fifteen years,and also to sing for the first time. A lot of the music that was first created was written by Dave alone, but needed to be fleshed out and he knew just who to call to help with this, that's right you guessed it, Pat! All in all the songs came together quite well, Dave's voice started working right, and Pat added what was needed to to help create the great balancing harmonies he's so good at. Then the rhythm section was needed, Bob Shook a long time freind (and great guitarist in his own right) was brought in to play bass. He came down and fit right in with his own touch to give the right low end, and added melody. Another long time friend of Dave's, Phill Smith was eager to drum for us, even while playing in two other bands! (let's just say he's a workaholic,dedicated to his art!) After setting up and jamming in Phils jam spot Treble Lift was formed complete, with Phil proving to be not only the perfect drummer for the job, but an inspiration to us all as well. Next up were the lyrics, that was a tough one for Dave as he was singing now, so he had to come up with something decent. Drawing from his personal experiences (NOT to be gone into here!) Dave came up with what seemed best and went with it. In January of 2002 we finally got our new bass player, Steve Page, who brought a new and exciting dimension to our sound.. In late 2002 Phil Smith left to play in a more straightforward punk band, we wish him well. Tim Valley, an ex-bandmate of Dave's in Theremin was brought in on drums - WOW, another key element to what our sound has developed into. These three new rough demos (in the free music section) were recorded at Tim's house (great job Tim!).
