Artist description
Jikkenteki is a strange mixture of various types of electronic music. While Trance (in particular Goa) is the predominant influence behind the music of Jikkenteki, years of listening to a vast range of music prevents JIkkenteki's music from being pure Trance. All tracks are recorded live and arranged on the spot as Jikkenteki feels that music should be a performance rather than a program. As the name implies in Japanese, Jikkenteki is an experiment. However one of the three characters used to write "Jikkenteki" in Japanese (the "teki" part, which in this case would mean -al as in experimental) has been switched to a homonym character which means enemy or rival, lending a darker tone to the name to fit the ocassionally dark tone of some of Jikkenteki's earlier music. |

Artist History
Jikkenteki technically started in 1999 although the roots were laid much earlier and on the other side of the world. In 1998 Jikkenteki relocated to Japan from the US to attend college and unfortunately was forced to leave all his gear behind. Finally it became too much and slowly but surely he began assembling a new, albeit not nearly as advanced, arsenal which has forced him to create music in new ways. Gone is the multitrack home studio with lots of fun toys and plush layering. In its place are new unexplored machines that often must be forced to create the desired effect and raw stripped down live improvised performances, all recorded in one take with no overdubbing possible. It is very different and yet at the same time strangely freeing. Follow Jikkenteki on his improvisational journey. We don't know where he'll go, but its sure to be a trip... |
