Artist description
No grunts or growls are part of DARKWELL's music. This album presents a different approach to the Gothic Metal genre. The dark atmosphere created by the music is supported by the captivating voice of DARKWELL's one and only muse and siren Alexandra Pittracher. DARKWELL most definitely delivers an impressive debut, a lachrymose and engaging end result which will do nothing less than enrich the scene and forge a new direction, while still maintaining the elements necessary to invoke a Gothic atmosphere. |

Artist History
Darkwell is a quite new band, formed in early 1999. In any case the past of the members of this uprising goth-metal group is a rich one. On the one side three members played in a band called Sarcasm Syndrome which already in 1993 discovered which richness of expression a female voice can develop. On the other hand there are two members who were part of the Evenfall live-line up which did more than 50 concerts on the extensive Dimmu Borgir European tour March/May/April 1999. |

Press Reviews
Markus Eck (Sonic Seducer (Germany)):No comparisons come currently to my mind; it is also unjust to try, since the baroque sounds of Darkwell are absolutely unique and do not deserve to be measured by the parameters of success belonging to others...One clearly hears the honesty of their passion, apparent in the musicians' style, as they play each note. This is how a credible band sounds that loves and believes in what they do. With the borrowed elements of classical and a tinge of well formed acoustic interjections, Darkwell may from the very beginning and without a doubt establish themselves at the pinnacle of their chosen genre. |
