PRESS RELEASE - ENTER THE BLACK CIRCLE - Introducing Washington, D.C.'s Most Polished New Musical Talent: Hot New D.C. Rap Group Produces First CD/Two Songs Featured in 5 Lines Movie. WASHINGTON, D.C. – BLACK CIRCLE, a polished group of seasoned rap artists, has been preparing to emerge for many years. Believing that excellence is always rewarded with appreciation by record producers as well as the general public, BLACK CIRCLE has been perfecting its skills in basements, small venues before enthusiastic crowds as well as professional recording studios. As Washington moves deeper into the New Millennium, D.C. urban music is becoming a major part of the entertainment and cultural fabric. BLACK CIRCLE is vying to be crowned the hottest homegrown D.C. talent in this emerging genre. If rap music is to eclipse Go Go music as D.C.'s dominant urban sound, BLACK CIRCLE is primed to be a major player in this evolution. Discipline, patience and hard work have paid off for the group. They now have an original collection of rap tunes that have already been test marketed and proven to be pulsating, crowd pleasing musical products. BLACK CIRCLE recently won the top prize at an intense Washington, D.C. unsigned artist competition sponsored by Double-O Productions. Judges from the recording industry and nightclub circuit were very impressed with the high energy and smooth quality of the group's live performance. As the winner, BLACK CIRCLE will open for a major rap or R&B performer in the next few weeks. Details will be announced soon. Two BLACK CIRCLE tunes are featured in the new movie 5 Lines, which will soon premier in New York City. The songs are entitled: "Money Brings Friends" and "Wanna Do Right." Samples of these and other BLACK CIRCLE rap tunes, which are included on the group's first self-produced CD, "Trying to Get There," will be available soon via MP3 and other Internet audio file formats at the following Web site (currently under development.) www.blacklikethat.com The BLACK CIRCLE artists are four positive-thinking, hardworking young men from the Greater Metropolitan Washington area. Two of the members are brothers. The leader of BLACK CIRCLE is Lawrence "Bugsy" Vereen. The eldest brother, Lawrence is a very adept producer and professionally trained recording and sound engineer. Lawrence works fulltime as a Safeway grocery store cashier. His fellow musician and brother, Theo "Black Talon" Vereen, also works as a Safeyway cashier. They both attended McKinley High School in Northeast Wasington. The other two members of the group are Dequane "Lil Scoot" Bogan, 23; and Steven "Lucky" Oliver, 21. The group has spent thousands of hours writing music and lyrics as well as practicing and recording. The group created Round Table Records to manage the business side of things. Their studio is located in the basement of the spacious Vereen home in Clinton, MD. The name BLACK CIRCLE derives from their vision that all good things come from the universe and must return to the Universe. As Lawrence says, "We are all children of the Universe. The Universe is a BLACK CIRCLE, an immeasurable beautiful, powerful BLACK CIRCLE. We are inseperable from this magical source of goodness. So, we named our group BLACK CIRCLE to remind us constantly that we are part of something large, powerful, beautiful and free." Lawrence and his crew are proud of what they have accomplished so far and look forward to gaining wider appreciation among the recording industry and rap fans. Round Table Records has an agreement with 5 Lines Film, LLC, producers of the movie 5 Lines. The agreement provides for industry standard compensation for movie soundtrack synchonization in the event the movie goes into major distribution. Inclusion of BLACK CIRCLE songs on any future soundtrack CDs will also warrant industry standard compensation for the group, according to the agreement. "This is a great start. We appreciate the 5 Lines Film company for making us a part of such a positive experience and we support them all the way. They decided to showcase Washington as an integral part of the movie and our participation, along with other local groups, is an honor, truly. He added: "We have devoted ourselves to perfecting our sound and now we are ready for a wider public to take a taste of our delectable rap delights . . ." - BLACK CIRCLE MEDIA - 1820 Clydesdale Place, N.W.
