Artist History It all started in the summer of ´99 in Oulu, Finland, when punk-rock-alternativegroup Rooster, due to bad vibrations within the members, split up. After 5 intesive years and ca. 170 played shows (supporting acts like Apulanta and YUP) across the land it was clear to all that breaking up was inevitable. However, no rest for the wicked: a minute after the old band was buried a new one was born. Resurrection, hallelujah Ruotomieli!The sloppy four piece band was now a tight and hungry trio with fresh sound and fresh ideas. Smoking guitarras, pounding bass and explosive drums combined with raw, bleeding-hearted and uncencored lyrics rapidly defined the sound of these three drifters. After few weeks of heavy jamming and rehearsing new songs started to flow in the spirit of bands´ all-time faves like Sielun veljet, the Doors, Dinosaur jr. and Tuomari Nurmio. Still, the feel of the music was, and is, something very distinctive and unique.Late ´99 the band went into studio to nail three brand new rawking tunes. The hipshakin´ songs "Vanha haiseva sydän", "Rietas tihkuva laulu" and the tearbringin´ Hassisen kone-cover "Pelko" have raised quite a fuss within both, media and common man. Not being able to put into any musical cage has shown to be an advantage for the band. Styles and trends come and go – Ruotomieli sticks to its garagesmelling-alcoholfueled guns. Roaming across the country Ruotomieli has proven itself as one of the most promising new live acts. So far they´ve played only a handful of shows but the feedback´s been very, very nice: Ruotomieli won the Jyrki Hit Challenge´ 2000 Jyväskylä semifinals (their first show in Jyväskylä) and made it to the finals at Tulliklubi, Tampere! And more and more shows are being booked. So lock up yer daughters – here comes RUOTOMIELI!
