Artist History During the early 1990’s the rhythmic rock group Motita , helped set the standard for Los Angeles – Rock en Español scene. Their unique combination of rock, mexican folk and improvisational music has attracted a lot of attention from a diverse crowd of listeners. Luis, Augie, and Omar Estrada are brothers who have been playing in various musical situations since childhood. Over the years, they have created a close-nit rhythm section that is undeniably due to their shared heritage. Marco Sandoval and his fiery guitar work were added to create Motita when the group members were still in their early teens. They have been writing, creating, and performing music together since then. Recent additions Carlos Rojas has been part of Motita’s musical movement since the early 1990’s. He has been adding percussive flavor to the band’s live performances and now plays congas/bongos with Motita on a full time basis. Ron Ochoa has been in jazz-oriented groups and studied various “latin” rhythms while attending Musicians Institute. He has known and collaborated with Motita since the early 1990’s, and now plays timbales/ hand percussion with the group. Together , Ron and Carlos add a bit of “sabor” to the musical maturity of Motita. Motita has just completed a four-song demo, which will eventually develop into a full length CD. They have been pleasing audiences at L.A. clubs, private parties, various cantinas/ pubs, and an array of other venues from Northern California to Hollywood and even south of the Mexican boarder. Get ready to experience a sound that transcends categories, styles and languages. A sound that appeases the most critical musician, yet pushes even the shy to get up and dance. This awesome combination latin jazz, regeae and rock has giving this six member band the opportunity to play with some of todays rising stars. OXRIA, Ozomatli and Frequency are just to name a few. This band is a must to catch when ever in your area.
