Artist History Formed in 1997, Groute Gate Gender sprang from the loins of a crappy cover band to open local shows for the abundance of death metal bands that are from their home town. This group, consisting of just a bass, drums, and guitar trio, continued this trend, eventually coming up with a ploy to leave their mark on the music scene: to be like nothing else in the area. The experiment worked and they did nothing but improvise for nearly three years, sometimes playing songs up to an hour long. They then experimented with a larger band, adding two more guitars and a trumpet, but eventually came back to the original format. Now, in their third year, the band has begun to add compositions to their improv works and have continued to show their diversity in all forms of music. With no end in sight, the group's imagination continues to run wild...
