Music Style Ultra Brutal Gore Death Grind

Artist History CENOTAPH has been formed by vocalist Batu and bass player Bülent in the summer of 1994 with the aim of performing some piece of the most brutal and sickest music that has ever been played in Turkey and the world so far. After working with different line-ups for some time, CENOTAPH recorded their debut demo “Life Immortal” in 1995 with Batu (vocals), Bülent I.(bass), Coskun (guitars), Umut ( scream vocals), Bülent G. (drums) . This 5 songs live recorded demo tape has been sold over 350 copies in Turkey and also helped CENOTAPH spread their name in the worldwide scene. In 1996 Umut has departed because he was not into the way CENOTAPH’s music headed and also drummer Bülent G. was replaced by Cem D. This was the ideal line-up and hasn’t changed since then. With the new line-up CENOTAPH has recorded their second demo “demo 96”. This 3 songs, professionally recorded demo has been sent to many underground labels, fanzines, magazines. “demo 96” got great response from both the press/record labels and fans and sold over 500 copies. In the Summer of 96, CENOTAPH entered YESILKART studios to record their 8 songs debut album “Voluptuously Minced” which was 8 songs of brutal and sick gore death/grind . With this recording they hace received offers from a few labels from outside Turkey but they have preferred to go through HAMMER MUSIC. And “Voluptuously Minced” has been released through Hammer music, got great interest as expected and has been distributed worldwide (in 22 countries) by many labels/distros amongst which are Relapse records, Morbid records, Repulse records and many others and it has sold out 1000 CD’s and 1500 MC’s. And CENOTAPH has been featured in many magazines/fanzines and radio shows worldwide. In the mean time CENOTAPH kept writing new material for their new album. And the new songs that were coming out were more grind, more, technical, more brutal and sicker than ever….In late 1998 they have recorded 7 new songs for their second album “Puked Genital Purulency” in Studio AB but HAMMER MUSIC didn’t find the result of this recording satisfactory and put CENOTAPH into STUDIO FORTE in November 98 and they have recorded the album again with the famous Turkish producer Civan “the Dude” as engineer behind the board . But this time CENOTAPH wasn’t happy with the result of the mix that Civan “the Dude” did and the guitarist Coskun, who has been working since some time at a studio, handled the works and re-recorded some guitar parts and made a new mix, that displays, the brutality and technicality CENOTAPH aimed to have, better. In mid May “Puked Genital Purulency” has been released by Hammer music on MC format first and within a very short time sold 1250 copies in Turkey .In early August the CD format has been released. And will be distributed worldwide by many labels again and it was certain months before the release of the album as CENOTAPH managed to make a big number of fans worldwide. The four sick guys have already started writing material for the new album so just enjoy “Puked Genital Purulency” and be prepared for the third episode of sickness…
