Artist History
Carlos' musical career began at age 12 as a member of his Jr. High School band playing drums; an interest passed down from his dad who was a professional percussionist touring in Mexico as a member of "Conjunto Tropical Mocambo" in the 1960's. During his high school years, Carlos was a member of the "Ghost Riders" Drum Corps. at Memorial High School where the "Ghost Riders" won several awards including #1 percussion line in the Rio Grande Valley in 1991 under the direction of Andy Sanders. Carlos also won several awards for solo drum performance and ensemble performance. At 14 Carlos began playing guitar. He played with the McAllen, TX band "Sweet Rain", playing bass guitar from 1992 to 1994. At age 16 Carlos began playing piano and writing music. At 19 Carlos wrote his first song "Sandy" which is featured on mp3.com as a demo. Live performances in Austin, include The Saxon Pub, Gaby n' Mo's, Fat Tuesday's. Carlos is working on new songs for a demo CD to be released in Houston. These original songs will include: "Sandy", "You Are My Star", "Poker Face Pretty", "Te Quiero Decir", "Not By Me", "A Moment Like This", "She Found a Way", "When You've Had it All","Goodbye, Sunday Morning" and a few others. In 2001 Carlos was elected as a member of ASCAP(American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers). His music can also be heard on Big Radio 10, Austin's first source for Rock & Pop music. |
