Artist History
Born in 83, Lived most of my live in Arizona... of all places... the Sonoran Desert housed this East Coast style hip hop artist. Not much of a past, but a lot to say in criticism of society, resembling Mark Twain's disgust for hypocracy. Calliz has been an active supporter of hip hop since first memory. He emulated his favorite artists until the age of 10, when he used his steez, in it's stages of early development to win a Student Council Election. With this newfound prospect for talent, Calliz felt he needed be heard. But he lived in Arizona... and if you weren't Country or Alternative... you weren't music. Semi-disappointed, Calliz stuck with rap in secret until his boy Yaloss introduced him to the internet. They had worked one on one with cyphas and building the skill of freestyling and felt semi-confident. Yaloss took the offensive and joined a community of emcees who battled on the net at a site named "Centerstage." Calliz couldn't because he didn't have constant access to the internet, so he watched as Yaloss grew suprisingly successful as far as his record went. A little before Centerstage fizzled out Calliz gained access to the net and experienced the "rookie trend" hazing of consecutive losses to emcees he felt he beat fair and square. But in this timeframe, Calliz continued to work on freestyling and writing skills and get better due to insecurity with skills. Yaloss and Calliz would spit together wherever they could and got studio time offeres that always seemed to fall through. When Yaloss and Calliz entered highschool, they met up with Haru and formed the squad Terranova(new-earth). They'd have cyphas and try their luck at talent shows... but never seemed to get tracks done. Calliz began to develop a net rep when he went on a tear and won 20 consecutive Freestyle... RA and Topic battles, while Yaloss took a break from net-battling an established man. Eventually Haru was informed that he would be moving out of town and would not be able to record with Terranova anymore... this prompted a track called "The Specialists." This was a huge hit around their small town... the only "Terranova" track on wax. Now the immediate Terranova fam consists of Yaloss & Calliz... two 16 year old emcees with raw talent resources just waiting to be tapped. |
