    Artist History
With a mutual fondness for bands such as: Trouble, Pentagram and The Obsessed, as well as "power-doom" heavy-weights Candlemas and Solitude Aeturnus, Greg Diener (guitars) and Darin McCloskey (drums) began playing together during the winter of 1995 and set out to write and perform music that had a more "back to basics" approach in it's intensity and overall "vibe", as a result of a music scene sorely lacking anything remotely similar to the "true" Heavy Metal Hard Rock sensibilities of the generation before.

Mister Smith is going nuts about this tape and it's easy to see why. Pale Divine are a very, very classy band indeed. Blending the timeless sounds of the early-to-mid Seventies (and I don't just mean Sabbath - use your imagination for god's sake!) with a distinct NWOBHM flavour, the Pennsylvania threesome literally ooze talent and conviction. Anyone into the likes of Trouble, The Obsessed and Pentagram will instantly warm to the band's lovingly crafted, devastatingly heavy music, and if there is any justice at all in this world Pale Divine will not be recording demos for much longer. Classic Doom Metal. -Terrorizer Magazine Issue #59 It seems like there is a pretty healthy demo scene happening on the doom metal front, and even though this one isn't brand new, it's surely one of the best! PALE DIVINE make their home in Pennsylvania and surely do their home state proud on this 5 tracker. While exhibiting a sound that, yes, has something in common with stalwarts from the genre like Witchfinder General, PD goes further. They incorporate some overtones that are distinctly '70's in nature, calling upon their love of gods such as Bang. It's these myriad influences that combine for an originality that makes PALE DIVINE standout. Just cheek out "Rites Of Passage" to see what I mean. Great recording here is another factor that, to me, says these guys are ready for an album - now! -Chaos Realm Issue #35 A frenzied activity in the demos domain is being observed lately and PALE DIVINE confirm it the best way possible. Their demo comes in a well-looked-after, professional package, indicating the consistency and seriousness of their effort. This band from Pennsylvania is devoted to heavy metal and inspired by many bands of the 70's (BLACK SABBATH, BUDGIE, BLUE CHEER, MOUNTAIN, WITCHFYNDER GENERAL etc.), as also by IRON MAIDEN, SAXON, TROUBLE and ANGELWITCH. I could also say I traced some METALLICA elements. So, all these give you an idea about the classical, old-fashioned sound they have. And I have to admit this is a promising debut the fans of the aforementioned sounds will find interesting. An honourable mention should be made on the good lead guitar use. The conclusion's that this band has the potential and the lovers of classical sounds should keep them in mind.-Morpheus-Written by Nick Bolianitis That is how I like doom metal to be played! A very good Candlemass-Solitude Aeturnus type band that managed to impress me and get me headbanging with their great five compositions. My friend Rob Preston the doom hunter, informed me about that band and he did bloody right as this demo is one of my favorite ones of this issue. Good vocals by the guitar player Greg Diener. Heavy drums by Darin McCloskey and steady bass by Jay Purnell. This doom metal trio is enough to make a better CD than the last ones of Candlemass and Solitude Aeturnus. This U.S. band outclassed it's idols and put out an outstanding demo. What will follow next? Sorry, I have no contact address of the band, but contact Doomed Planet Records for further details.-Steel Conjuring; Written by Manos Koufakis
