Artist History
Aleph started up in the beginning of 1998, taking inspiraton for its name in one of Jorge Luis Borges’ short stories, and having the first letter of hebraic alphabet as its symbol. The band has been influenced by many branches of metal styles such as heavy, gothic and death metal, therefore it manages to join feeling to an agressive sound when writing its own songs. In September 2000, Aleph releases its first cd-demo entitled “Tragedies... laid by Divine Hands”, which is a sort of conceptual work. Its four tracks show how the band has been developing in the last years. These songs have been positively commented by magazines and internet reviews. In February 2001 Atlantida Productions, from Lithuania, releases the compilation Atlantida Vol.8, which gathers bands from all over the world. Aleph takes place in this cd with the song "Gift of Prometheus". In August 2001, Aleph records a new song, "Electric Diva", aiming a compilation disc from the Portuguese magazine Ancient Ceremonies (issue #8), released in December 2001. In October 2001 Aleph wins Rock Brasilis contest, the first brazilian band’s contest which has been held through the internet. The band has been chosen among 300 other groups. Very soon, "Electric Diva" will be released in a compilation disc which is supported by Century Media Records. In the present day, Aleph is looking foward to advertise its work as much as possible, being open to any support or invitation that may come. Also, the band has been working hard on its own songs and planning to release its first cd as soon as possible.
