Artist History
Violet was formed in 1995. The band has performed at the CMJ Music Festival, appeared on the National College Television Program, "The Fringe", and performed in high profile NYC Clubs such as Knitting Factory, Webster Hall, and Arlene Grocery. Tracks from the band's first full length CD "We Both Know It's Out There" have appeared on compilations by Jarmusic, Pop Culture Press and Magnet Magazine. The band's song, "Undercurrent," has recieved AAA radio play and been selected as the featured song of the week on Liquid Audio.com. Their early 4-track recordings featured vocals, lap steel, acoustic guitar and percussion. Over the next several years, they expanded to include drums, string bass and violin, mandolin, e-bow and loops. With each song and recording the band gets closer to realizing their concept of using traditional, rural instruments to make urban music. Violet recorded their first full length CD with analog guru, Adam Lasus, who has made great records with Clem Snide, Helium and Madder Rose. This product fully crystallizes Violet's vision of aggressive acoustic music. |
