Artist description
The Mojo Men is a band of four that has the versatility of much larger groups due to its multi-instrumentalists. All the members confess to a heavy rock influence, but owe their unique sound to a blend of stylistic backgrounds. Rodger Waite, the lead vocalist, has performed professionally in many types of groups from Big Bands to Hard Rock to Soul. He is also capable of moving easily from guitar to sax or keyboards. His vocal work is deceptively chameleon-like depending on the needs of the song, but audiences have compared him at different times to Roy Orbison, Frank Sinatra, and Eric Bourdon. Drummer, Jack Barger, grew up with a strong conviction to the Jazz world. He is proud that he once met John Coltrane. He approaches his drum set with a musicality that is rare in popular music, bringing an awesome technique to the band’s rhythm section that has not been heard in rock recordings for decades. Lead Guitarist, Dave Kromer, has also taken over much of the producing duties for the group due to his meticulous approach to providing melodic hooks and enhancements to each song. Dave was born to rock, but admits to a love for beautiful extended chords in a jazz ballad. The other multi-instrumentalist in the band is Dan Daly, who provides the bass lines during live shows. He is also fluent on guitar, mandolin, banjo, and trombone. Dan brings a downhome sensibility to the mix with a preference for rootsy, acoustic, honest, to-the-bone production.. |
