Artist History
In 1992 Saya came to America to fulfill her dream of becoming a jazz pianist. She received a music scholarship from Loyola University to study jazz piano in New Orleans. After graduating in 1995 Saya continued her musical studies with Ellis Marsalis and began composing her own original works. She performed with numerous jazz musicians in the New Orleans area, and recorded her first CD "Simple Poem" in 1997. From 1997 to 1999 Saya toured and performed with the Neville Brothers, and composed the song "Until We Meet Again" for the Neville's 1999 CD "Valence Street", a Columbia Records release on which she also performed. In 1999 Saya left the Neville Brothers and New Orleans, and moved to San Francisco to spend more time on her own projects.
Recently Saya was signed by Pony Canyon Records and her new CD "Dance Your Heart" with Stan Gilbert (Bass) and Harvey Mason (Drums) was released in July 2001 in Japan. |
