Artist History
Ringmaster, an original female fronted theatrical rock band, plays both blistering anthems and sublime ballads at major NYC, LA and New England clubs. In NYC, Ringmaster has rocked Mercury Lounge, Arlene Grocery, Elbow Room, Don Hill's, CBGB, ACME Underground and Meow Mix. Some top LA club conquests include: Troubadour, Coconut Teaszer, The Gig (Hollywood) and the Dragonfly. In Washington DC, May 2001, Ringmaster performed at the Capital Building for 5,000 Voter March.com protesters (back in the days when protest was not anti-American). In Philadelphia, at Unity 2000, Ringmaster played original anthems to 25,000 Republican National Convention protesters. Rage Against the Machine played at the Democratic National Convention protest on the west coast.
Gloria Guillo, singer, songwriter and rhythm guitarist is a Broadway trained vocalist. Reviewers often compare Gloria vocally to a young Chrissy Hynde, Ann Wilson Stevie Nicks, Grace Slick, Debbie Harry and politically to Patti Smith. Conceptually, Gloria believes in pushing rock to its highest standard of thought and entertainment and is known to dress and do on stage what ever it takes to get a song across to the audience the way it will be remembered.
Lead guitarist, Ben O'Sickey's unusual style and soaring solos adds an early Bowie, Pink Floyd, Zeppelin dimension to the band. Rob Esposito, bassist, holds the band's ethereal/passionate sound together with classic rock lines and grooves. And drummer, John Gabriel, adds a creative range of beats and styles that allow the band many different attacks on songs - from radio friendly "Pretenderesq" ballads to fierce power anthems - reminiscent of Black Sabbath.

Press Reviews
GRS wrote: "Gloria has a distinctive voice that really cuts through without being overpowering. Very refreshing". Music Connection concludes: "The CD proclaims the bands classic rock influences. Grand Cross exemplifies this approach, even leaning toward a prog-rock sensibility. Reflection is a skillful combo of modern and classic rock elements". Inside Connection wrote: "Ringmaster's songs are powerful, easy to listen to and belay good songwriting skills. The vocals are the strong element of Ringmaster, portraying a wide range and pretty strong passions". The Worcester Phoenix compared Gloria's voice to a young Stevie Nicks. Jay Burstein from Goodimes Magazine wrote "Gloria Guillo and Ringmaster put drama and politics back on the rock and roll stage with poignant verse, awesome hard driving rock and roll, a dramatic quality to their performances reminiscent of some of the great punk bands of the seventies. You should seize the opportunity to catch this startlingly distinctive band". Kenneth Morton from Los Angeles based Highwire Daze, declared: Vocalist Gloria Guillo is a hottie, looking at first like Debbie Harry with platinum wig. And, once the hair came off, her long tresses and sheer magnetism reminded one of Traci Lords! All this and Gloria can belt out a song like craz |
