Artist History
Later Heaven evolved from an acoustic cover duo into a 4-piece orginal rock band. The story is simple and still ongoing. It began with two college buddies with shared musical interests and the desire to write and perform. They began by taking advantage of the "Unplugged" craze, which had accustomed people to hearing pared-down acoustic versions of their favorite modern rock songs. Playing at parties and Albany bars, Sam and Nick found the act going over pretty well, especially their covers of Live and Alice in Chains. Their originals were also gathering favorable response, but lacked the drum, bass, and electric guitar parts that you unconsciously remember when you hear an acoustic version of a popular rock song. Inspired by the amazing sound of Days of the New, they decided to acquire bass and drums, while keeping to a pure acoustic sound. John was quickly brought on board to play drums, but finding the right bass player proved difficult until the realization that they already had one in the form of Nick. Frank joined to fill the resulting empty lead guitar slot, bringing his own unique style into the mix. The vision of a strictly acoustic sound soon faded, but in its place emerged something with more creative potential. The result of the varying and overlapping musical influences within the band is a still-evolving sound that's familiar without being too familiar. Individual life experiences combined with the eternal quest for truth provide the inspiration for lyrics that hit home - direct and personal while touching on the spiritual and philosophical. |
