Artist description
“Ants in your pants sock ‘em ska. Pass the beer and skank.” Just one description of the live show of Fat Cactus. Fat Cactus, born of the boredom of the St. Louis suburbs, incorporates the staples of Jamaican ska music as well as southern Californian punk into a solid if not eccentric rock band. Bearing a resemblance, and riding to popularity the “third wave of ska,” but accenting the true radio-friendly rock sound, Fat Cactus has built a dedicated and diverse fan base with its electrifying live show and frat party sing-a-longs.The athletic and death-defying stage-antics of the All-Star horn section are often imitated, but never duplicated. Bugle boy Steve Davis, when he manages not to collide with saxophone player, Brian Cook, is a powerful stage presence. Rock solid and innovative drumming, courtesy of Chris Lewis, coupled with the over-equipped bass stylings of Matt Morgus create an undeniable rhythm extravaganza. Guitarist, Pat McCurren, brings a unique feel to a very familiar rock sound. Singer Kevin Korinek, a true performer, is always bringing the crowd energy to new levels. Pure energy, accented by the assorted pool toys and action figures, send the crowd into frenzied semi-conscious status. The combination of this high energy madness, the comical, as well as the sincere takes on what’s really on the minds of all teenage and twenty-something guys, women.Teen anthems such as the Hawaiian Shirt Song, and Friday Afternoon, make Fat Cactus a new and exciting twist on your favorite rock band. |
