Press Reviews
CD Review by MayBee Baby for Dynamite Magazine:Overall, this collection of originals gets two thumbs up. A treasure ofclassic 50's themed songs. The vocals are outstanding, not only thelead, but the background harmonies capture and hold your attention. Thetempos vary from song to song, so you're not listening to the "samesound" over and over. Each song has a definite character of it's own. Most of these rockin tunes will get your toes tapping, and you'llprobably find yourself dancing (even if you're all by yourself). I lovethe way Kelly plays with kooky word groups, i.e.willa-willa-wop-wip-wip-wip and oohee-teehee and several more verycatchy and unique clusters. The variety on this CD is unbelievable. There's the science fiction type beginning on "Beepin Squeal", there'sthe spooky, monstery feel on "Ghost Rock", there's even a south seastune. "Skippin Along" had my fingers snappin right away. There's rock nroll, country-billy, doo wop type harmony, story tunes, and typicalteenage themes. This CD is a must for the true collectors of vintage50's rockabilly. Rare treat is the bonus tracks from the movie DemonFrom Devils Lake which Bob provided two songs for. This CD will make youvery very happy. |
