Artist History
LIVING IN THE DOWN-TOWN AREA, PADDY WALSH AND ALAIN VARY ALONG WITH THE REST OF THE BAND TAKE IN AND REFLECT THE VIBRANT "MAIN" SCENE (ST. LAWRENCE BLVD.) OF MONTREAL. AS THEY LIKE TO PUT IT, "WE LIVE AND BREATHE THE MAIN". THE BLVD IS BY FAR THE BIGGEST INFLUENCE ON THE BAND, AS ALAIN'S ST. LAWRENCE STREET APARTMENT IS ALWAYS THE CENTER OF A DREAM I HAD'S MUSICAL ACTIVITY, BE IT REHEARSING, SETTING UP GIGS OR SOCIALIZING.
THEY HAVE BEEN A PART OF THE MUSICAL SCENE IN MONTREAL FOR MANY YEARS, DRAWING ON THE DIFFERENT CITY SOUNDS SHAPING THEIR STREET WISE APPROACH TO MUSIC. THE "KIDS", AS THE BRASS SECTION IS COMMONLY REFERRED TO BY THE OLDER MEMBERS, BRING AN ENERGETIC AND ALREADY WIDE BACKGROUND TO THE FOREFRONT OF THEIR MUSIC, BY HAVING BEEN TRAINED IN THE CLASSICAL AND JAZZ TRADITIONS AT THE MONTREAL CONSERVATORY. FREDERIC, HAVING STARTED AS YOUNG AS EIGHT YEARS OF AGE, WENT ON TO WIN THE UNDER SIXTEEN WORLD TRUMPET COMPETITION.
IN 1994 THEY WERE THE WINNERS OF THE TOWNSHIPPERS' " BATTLE OF THE BANDS " CONTEST, HELD EACH YEAR IN THE EASTERN TOWNSHIPS OF QUEBEC, AT THE SUNNYMEAD PICNIC IN WEST BROME.

Press Reviews
"A Dream I Had, has the dynamics of a fusion group that, happily, hasn’t entirely fused. The players put in what they love best - a bit of marachi here, some Sinatra crooning there, cabaret-style segues, jazz riffs, rock rhythms, and punk manners." (David Vachon: The Stanstead Journal; Stanstead, Quebec, Canada)
"Picture a guy in a chicken suit lilting lounge tunes about murder. Imagine a post-nuclear ‘90s big band sounding like a slightly drunk Sinatra. You may already know them as A Dream I Had." (Deborah Ann: The Mirror; Montreal, Quebec, Canada)
