Artist History Currently hosts live jazz show at KJZZ.org radio/and web streaming available at www.kjzz.org 11-1 phx time Been on this project on and off for 4 years.Background:1974=1st High School summer job in music dept.at Central Islip State Mental Hospital,I witnessed the healing power of music daily ,on the patients we would play for.In '75-'77 R&B band TKO,also with Everett Collins(former drummer with the Isley Bros.in the 70s,a project called "Tuff Enuff",we had interest from Island records.Went to school at the Univ.of Miami ,Director Whit Sidener,Dean Dr.Lee(bass player/David Letterman Will Lees' dad)Called me up and invited me to attend U.M. after reviewing my audition tape.'77 to'83 BA.in "Studio Music,&jazz",I was among some brilliant performers at that time.Pianist Mike Gerber who did a clinic with Jaco Pastorius,whom I found to be friendly,and encouraging.Rick Margitza,and Eddie Calle 2 of the scariest sax players I ever heard.Went blind in '86 from Keratakonis,got cornea transplants in '88,that year I performed with Mulgrew Millerfor a pilot jazz show "Jazz from the City",hosted by DJ Ken"Spider' Webb,formerly of WBLS,in '91 I moved to Phoenix from N.Y.I've been here ever since.I've co-produced remix projects for Tina Turner"I Don't Wanna Fight No More", Virgin records, The Cover Girls,Rod Stewart(never released by label because the single was dropped.),All my big projects were done at Vintage Recording,with Billy Moss engineering,none of these things would have happened without Robert Anderson,an asset on any project.I helped start 2 labels,Lethal Injection with Rob,and the late,brilliant Rapper Ardis Wesley,blessed with the vocal talents of NayNay ,and the brilliance of Director Alula Andemichael(now in LA.)we were on to something,,Ardis was murdered and the whole thing came apart.Summer of 94,Fo Life Records (the 2nd project label still going strong.I'm no longer involved with it.Currently ,I'm writing my own project,and working with Mike Reed,and Kenny Poe(phenomenal keyboard player),There have been many angels in my life,Larry Reed,Dave Cook,SherryRoberson,Sharon,Jesse,Karen,My Amazing Family,One highlight was jamming for 2 hours with Wynton Marsalais,Wes Anderson,and Dave Cook (drums),Eddie Hollis(B3)at the VFW!!,the other sharing the stage with Loretta Devine(playing and singing the role of Billie Holliday),at the Little Phoenix Theater,we won a Zonie award for that!
