NAZIS FROM MARS - "Tina Techno Punk Teen 7"EP Techno punk in a way that is diametrically the opposite of DHC. Very catchy despite the manic wall of noise guitar and drum loops and tracks. Deadpan female vocals with catchy-as-hell punk. Sort of like a totally fucked '77 style HELEN LOVE. I think this might be really fantastic. Imagine SUICIDE and BLONDIE merging into one concept.(MAXIMUMROCKNROLL review - may 2000) NAZIS FROM MARS - "Tina Techno Punk Teen 7"EP The cover says its all -- four vaguely thuggish-looking technopunk teens with Vanyaupfront holding a guitar that says "FUCK YOU." You don't even need to listen to the singleto like this band. But you should listen to the single, because it's most swank. (Bewarned, though, that they favor garage-style production -- a plus with me as long as it'slistenable, which this certainly is, but if you're expecting pristine 48-track recordingquality here you have come to the wrong place.) As with the first single, NFM come acrossas a supremely fuzzed-out version of Blondie (or Ramones, depending on their mood) crossedwith Atari Teenage Riot (minus the sloganeering). My favorite song on here is thefirst one, "Tina Technopunk Teen," which sounds like it was directly inspired by theRamones' "Rockaway Beach" (Vanya even manages to reel off a "gabba gabba hey!" betweenverses), but here the fuzz guitars are offset by percolating dirt-synth. "Working ClassSuperhero" is just about as hep, especially with the sneering chorus that ends in "I don'twanna work from 9 to 5 / and I don't wanna be your slave." Apparently they don't likeworking for a living any more than i do.... "1000 Ways" has plenty of the kind of driveand sheer attitude that i like, not to mention that it sounds really fuzzy and trashy, and"Elton Jackson" is just plain one baby step away from deranged. I'm already counting outthe bills to buy their first CD the minute it becomes available, mon.... (Dead Angel Zine) u
