Press Reviews
Superbly detailed, flawlessly executed, awesomely imagined, “A Vision Beyond Light” takes us into the hyper-imagined realms of ambient realities, lucid dreams of angels in flight past chromatic stars of shocking beauty. - Steve Ryals, Rock Creek Press ... J. Arif Verner does indeed travel the spaceways in his follow-up to "A Vision Beyond Light" ("Through the Timeless"). He traverses a drone zone that's more crystalline than dark, with melodies that wash up like random ripples on the sand of a wave-lapped seashore. Triggering many of his electronic sounds with a guitar synthesizer, Verner has a natural arc to his melodies. - John Diliberto, Echoes Radio ... J. Arif Verner has a good ear not only for sample CD-titles, but also for his music, which twists, turns, loops, gloops throughout this 1-hour-plus aural cyclorama ("Ambient Atmospheres"). In a broad sense, we're talking about outer-space noises, synthy testures, sounds, rythmns, and effects that have no equivalent within traditional-instrument confines. The disc's recording quality is top notch - not a harsh reverb or a jittery sample in earshot. Thank you for bringing us this beguiling and creative collection. - Julian Colbeck, Electronic Musician magazine |
