Artist description
Mazza 5 plays Dub-Jazz. -An improvised, acoustic hybrid of some of the club genres that inhabit present day musical spaces: Dub, 70’s Funk, Global Beats, Jazz & Drum ’n’ Bass.Mazza 5 is inspired by dialogue and interaction between humans and machines. We are exploring how to let the computer programmer’s and the DJ’s work- and thinking processes influence us to create a new digital-analog architecture in acoustic music. We let the inner biological hard drives do spontaneous cutting, looping, and cross-fading on our musical ideas while we play. This creates new scenarios, new roles and new textures based on the organic sounds of 2 saxes, guitar, keyboards, bass and drums. The music is multi-facetted, energetic and rich in contrasts. It spans from hypnotic to chaotic, obvious to obscure, light to dark, simple to complex. |

Press Reviews
”…The way these five musicians performed the music …it was impossible to tell the compositional from the spontaneous. It seemed like everything was happening intuitively. And yet nothing seemed to be a coincidence.”- Politiken (Denmark)”…The music …was not only spell-binding, it was totally original.”- Berlingske Tidende (Denmark) |
