Artist History
High Speed Chase started as a studio project in 1995 as a musical outlet for Producer/ Engineer Chris Gibson (Quicksand, Civ, Orange 9mm, Handsome, Glassjaw, Dragpipe, Reach, Shades Apart). After years of touring, Gibson enlisted the help of other like minded musicians and decided to take the studio to the stage in early '99. After a few line up changes, the core of the band (Gibson, Lava, Rad, Hummel) continues to play high intensity live shows to enthusiastic response from fellow musicians and audiences alike. The next year looks to be just as intense. High Speed Chase will be one of the featured artists on the "Driven State; A Tribute To Quicksand" compilation (End Of The Circle Records). The band will also be stepping up their live performance schedule so look for them, they could be on the road soon. The following review from Jersey Beat Magazine pretty much gives a good lasting impression."HIGH SPEED CHASE - 'Six Songs For Sycophants' CD (Upstart Agency) Here's an interesting study in radical contrasts: a ballsy, cocky, "hey ain't I such hot shit!" macho attitude and snarly, sneering vocals, offset by thrillingly controlled arrangements, beautifully soaring tenor choruses, and chillingly subdued instrumentals that positively seethe with a creepy sense of quiet menace. The deceptively polished, smoothly honed sound, brought to life by gutsy drums, churning bass lines, and tightly-coiled guitar riffs, insulates itself upon the listener with utmost ease. This excellent knack for restraint in turn gives the jolting, pissed-off lyrics of such supremely masculine, testosterone-soaked, rage-ridden tracks as the strutting "Animal," the frightening "Hate! Now!," and the explosively furious "Didn't Mean To Bring You Down" a startlingly raw, electric, and downright unnerving edge. A terrifically punchy cover of Cheap Trick's 'Surrender' ends things on a properly snotty note. A jarringly effective 6-song pop-rock mini-album." -Joe Wawyrzniak, -Jersey Bea |

Press Reviews
"Intriguing" "High Speed Chase walks a fine line balancing ferocious hardcore intensity and a melodic pop sound."-Jersey Journal"I can't stop listening to this new High Speed Chase song 'Lights Up'...while I've enjoyed everything I've heard from them, I especially love that song. It's so angst-y, like a swirl of SenseField, Best Kissers In The World, The Who, and Cheap Trick." - geocities.com/weakervessel/ |
