Press Reviews
BRIMSTONE, CHEZ BERNARD : Bubbling analogue synths, euro dance back beat - loads of filters - happy carefree music -- Rythm Street ------- CYBERWALK :This is one pretty seriously impressive tune. The only time it pauses is at the start, for the buildup, which is brief and low with a powerful electric chord that puts me in mind of those low budget 80s action films which all had the same sort of synth music. The beat starts quickly and it’s fast; seriously fast. The accompanying melodies and rhythms take turns to match themselves up with the beat and they all go very well, tuning in and out and swirling in amongst one another smoothly and swapping at nicely unpredictable moments. There’s a tiny vocal sample in the middle, and them some drum effects towards the end which lead us fittingly into an abrupt but well handled conclusion. So the overall sound I thought was excellent, it flows up and down with great vigour and there are plenty of ideas put in there to keep you moving - it’s a tune that induces little motions of the feet almost unconsciously - all glued together by the original chord which is simple but effective. There are a couple of problems. The beat fluctuates wildly in volume and dominance; I assume this is intentional but I’m not sure it works and it certainly gave my subwoofer a fright on one or two occasions. Also, it suffers slightly from almost too many ideas too fast; it changes very often indeed, and this suits it but means that some sequences are too short and others get repeated once too often. These are minor niggles though. In summary then, a cool tune which certainly fits the genre, excellent flow and momentum, perhaps in need of a tiny bit more polishing. -- Mike Bell ----- INTRODUCTION :just reviewing Introduction by null void.... love the spacey beginning...oh dear now i realise this is just as it says an intro... lol ok ill try again; BRIMSTONE: Ok Now to Brimstone by null void.... A very nice well composed song indeed. Its got good dancefloor presence and excellent variation. One to download.--- Jono ---- |
