Artist History
THE FLESHKILL STORY......
Fleshkill is a metal band that rose from the ashes of 2 Baton Rouge, Louisiana bands, Critical Factor and Bleeding Power. Starting out under the name Toil in November of '98, the band (comprised of Stephen Dunn-guitar, Timothy Adi-vocals, Jon Posey-bass and Mike Poole-drums) began writing heavy emo/groove/hardcore music with a Christ-centered and spiritual message. After the departure of Timothy and Jon, Stephen and Mike continued with the ideals and message that began with Toil, but began writing more death metal influenced tunes and renamed the project Fleshkill and were in search of additional musicians.
Some friends from church, Brandon Rogers and Damien Harper, joined the band as guitar and bass player, but left shortly thereafter. To replace Brandon, Fleshkill recruited Caleb Coates to share guitar duties with Stephen and then original bass player, Jon Posey, returned to the fold. This line up, with addition of Gary Vincent handling vocal duties, went on to open for Disciple and play numerous shows with different bands here in Louisiana and recorded a demo known as the "One Christ EP" in summer of 2000. But shortly after the recording of this CD, the band saw the departure of Caleb and Jon and, within a few months, the addition of Josh McCurry on bass. Once again, Fleshkill was in full swing, playing shows and writing new material, despite the fact that they were down to one guitar player. Then in March of 2001, the additional guitar player void was filled when John Tulley of Lucid Soule joined Fleshkill.
This brings us to the present time. The band is currently redefining itself, both spiritually and musically. They shall continue to keep the band going, despite the many trials and line up changes that have taken place over the last several months. The last several months have seen the departure of Josh and the addition of Lucid Soule's Adam Hebert as Fleshkill's most recent member. The current line up consists of Mike Poole-drums, Gary Vincent-vocals, and John Tulley-guitar, Stephen Dunn- guitar and Adam Hebert-bass. The band is currently playing shows again and writing material for the full-length Fleshkill CD, which the band plans to begin recording sometime early 2002, so stay tuned. Thus, the journey continues......... |
