Curveside started as a distraction from the more lacklustre aspects of life. If you get to see or hear them, they would be delighted to distract you. They don’t claim to have any answers to how to survive life, but given a chance they’ll certainly take your mind off it, for a while.

    Artist History
For the record, Andrew, Ashley, and Matt have been doing the rounds in Cardiff and South Wales since the late 90’s developing their unique brand of snarling, power-pop in front of an appreciative and growing fanbase. Curveside combine the dirty glamour of cranked up guitars with earthquaking bass and the biggest beats, to produce spine-tingling moments of epic, power-pop that have been described as ‘breathtaking, like a hybrid of Star Wars and Spartacus’. Support slots with The Stereophonics, The Crocketts and local faves like Melys, Derrero and Topper, as well as their own unforgettable headlining nights at Cardiff’s Clwb Ifor Bach, have all helped established the band’s reputation as superb songwriters and a formidable live band. Curveside get regular airplay on Xpress FM, Cardiff’s Student Radio station and have recorded sessions for broadcast, as well as performing as part of their Summer Roadshows. They have appeared as part of BBC Radio Wales’ summer programme of outdoor broadcasts and also hope to record a session for Radio One’s Evening Session: Wales. TV appearances include HTV’s ‘Electric Chair’ and various live performances on BBC Choice. In 1999 they contributed music to ‘Autonomy’, a poem by Patrick Jones for his poetry/pop crossover album ‘Commemoration & Amnesia’, which also featured Manic Street Preachers, Catatonia and Super Furry Animals. Andrew and Matt also played as part of Pat’s band, with members of Topper and Derrero, at the Reading and Leeds festivals. They’re biggest gig was supporting the Manics at the Manic Millennium in Cardiff, where the turbo-charged ‘Autonomy’ went down a storm with the crowd. The band have also been working closely with producer Adam Fuest at his Twin Peaks recording studio in the Brecon Beacons over the past year. Together they have a put together about 2 albums worth of Class A tunes making it difficult to know what to play live!

We're sitting here enjoy Morello Cherry and Brandy Preserve on hot buttered toast, the perfect way to listen to a demo (****bribe chart*****). Two tracks, I like the edgy erotic sound of "My Little Friend" a kind of Suede/Manics kind of song about a gun. There's a raw jagged quality to Curveside's sound, a slightly f-ed up Nirvana flavour to those ratty guitars, they've got a great sound here, if they do commit guitar atrocities then they do it with a swagger. Indeed Curveside have a "we-know-we're-good" swagger, they sound like U2 in their early days. They're a million times better than Terris. They're from Cardiff, check them out, they're good. www.organart.com
