Artist History
The band is very active in the New York City club area, and has also performed in Boston, Washington D.C. and New Jersey. In 1999 the band performed at one of the most important jazz clubs in Panama City (Panama), and it recently accompanied Cuban trombonist Juan Pablo Torres in a Jazz festival Upstate New York. AfroMantra has appeared on the popular New York City jazz show "Jazz at Noon" on Manhattan's Neighborhood Network, and has also been featured on the off-Broadway production, "Salsaleo". The group has recently released its latest CD, AfroMantra latinjazzensemble (see links). This young, yet dynamic and experienced band, which has become one cohesive musical force, will continue to make headway. In this new era of world music, AfroMantra will swing brightly with its intricate, powerful rhythms, thus redefining the meaning of Latin jazz. |
