Artist description Velvet Elvis is a power trio that draws its influence from the 80's punk and new wave scene. We use alot of slap-back, echo filled rhythm guitar, biting lead guitar including some e-bow guitar and occasionally a bit of keyboards. Our songs are often political, some poking fun at some of our "cherished" institutions. Occasionally, we just do something off-the-wall, like a ska/ electric violin version of Ravel's Bolero. We hope you like us!

Artist History We met while at Stanford University. All of us were in different bands; part of the rock band scene on campus. After getting tired of playing cover songs at Frat parties and discovering that audiences liked our originals, we played the San Francisco club scene, local radio and cable TV stations. Velvet Elvis is the culmination of the different bands that we were all in. As we got progressively better paying jobs, technology improved and got cheaper, we recorded and produced our first (and so far only) CD: Sins of State.
