Artist History
The Getaway was started duiring the winter of 1999-2000. The bands first name, Forever Living, came from a sign Simon and Ben saw while driving down San Pedro one day. This was about two months before the formation of the band. Later the band changed its name to The Getaway because, unlike the name Forever Living, it didn't sound stupid when someone spoke it. Now, we have no need to hide our heads in shame. The actual band formed about three weeks into January 2000. Simon came to Ben asking if He wanted to start a band - Ben and Simon were inspired to do so because they had just seen some of their friends perform with their bands I Like Ike and Foiled Again (Click the band name to view their website). Ben, of course, said yes. Now, knowing they needed another instrument, Simon called Tasso, the brilliant vocalist and mucisian who dazzels the mind and delights the sences. Origainally Tasso wanted to play bass but Ben (being the genius that he is) suggested the band have two guitars and no bass. Later, Tasso bought a bass anyway. Tasso, for a short while, tried to play the bass but soon figured his musicial guidence fairy did not bless him with that particular talent, so we picked up Matt Laird the crazy animal-like bass guitarest from Compton. Now we are The Getaway because Forever Living is the stupidest name ever. There you have it.NOTICE: No animals were harmed in the making of this band.SO BACK OFF!! |
