Artist description
Lab Report contains elements of music ranging from disturbing experimental to fine classical structure. With the use of the the ATG (a.k.a. the Anti Tank Guitar, an instrument designed by Matthew Schultz) field recordings, analogue synths and digital samples, Lab Report has covered a wide range of music. The creation of their moods and textures range from extremely dark and twisted noise to subtle classical pieces featuring violins and French horns. This project has many influences and is known for its ability to instantaneously induce trances or moods of intoxication from their music. |

Artist History
Lab Report is a project that I, Matthew Schultz, started ten years ago. It has contained many rotating members including Lydia Lunch and Genisis P. Orridge (also from Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV). We've put out over eight CDs throughout the years. The range of music is extreme and covers many styles. All of which seem to be locked in the theme of exploring the dark side. |

Press Reviews
"Reverb, feedback, static, screeching airy: these words unite. Lab Report winds its way through industrial deconstruction in their forth release. For the most part, Excision fits into an ambient groove, sometimes slipping into almost a sonic space rock sound. The melodies feel like background music to a hauntingly beautiful B movie, exploring surreal scenes. Spacious tracks give rise to light humming and hammering noises. Even though this could easily be the background stage for an Einsturzende Neubauten song, they are interesting and odd enough on their own." AARIN PEPELIS - INTERFACE MAGAZINE ---"Once a member of Pigface, Matthew Schultz has moved on to create some of the most disturbing experimental music known to mankind..." JENNIFER GARNER - MUTE MAGAZINE |
