Artist History
Living in Los Angeles for the last three years via Austin, TX, L. Cedeno has been performing in one way or another since the age of 7. In 1998 he began playing alongside Est Nijboer and Kenneth Baggott of Warne with deeper than pop, but pop star fashion in the band Circa Now. L. Cedeno creates the original textures of a musical scientist. This expertise in kinestic phenomonology rings true in a voice we can all get lost in.
Other projects include: Circa Now, Junky Southern, Debrah Vial and guitar on the latest Brazzaville CD "Rouge on Pockmarked Cheeks" with David Brown (Nigel Godrich producing!). Collaborations include work with John Powers, Jerry Angel of Divinyls fame and Frank Enfante of Blondie.
At the moment Cedeno can be caught at various night spots in and around Los Angeles. Recent shows include The Mint, Zen, Spaceland, The Joint and Temple Bar.
CIRCA NOW
Gunfighters and surfers... the heroes of the West are marked by solitary struggle and free thought. These motifs of the wide-open West speak directly to the members of pop rock outfit Circa Now. Their vision translates these classic themes into guitar driven rock-n-roll or something they like to call "a fist full of pop."
Circa Now is L. Cedeno, Est Nijboer and Kenneth Baggott of Warne. Their musical influences range from Ennio Morricone to David Bowie.
Cedeno, the lanky, laconic writer behind songs like "The Man Outside" and "The Legend of Chico," traces the origin of his fascination with "musical dramatics" to a small town theatre: "One night I was in Clearwater, Texas watching a Sergio Leone film called "Il Mio Nome E'Nessuno." Suddenly the audio went dead. It didn't matter. I barely noticed because there was this completely original soundtrack playing in my head."
This band's unique brand of rock pushes melody, imagery, pop sensibility, and a treble-reverbed guitar drama. It is all original pop-rock-and-roll. Their stylings reflect historical influence with a contemporary twist- the perfect fit for a modern Leone epic.

Press Reviews
"The arrangements of L. Cedeno expand pop boundary norms. They're timeless..." New York Ambient Journal
"Cedeno has a voice we can get lost in..." London Pop Chronicles
Dreams are made of music like this (or perhaps dreamers make music like this). The melodies are alluring, and L. Cedeno's intelligent outsider
lyrics transport you to an exotic yet personal place. Saturated with guitar dexterity, the songs seem to float on the horizon. Hovering over what can only be called an ocean of mediocre, mainstream musical "Spam". However having said this, the ethereal textures Cedeno creates are anchored by a moody vocal style and words that just get richer with repeat listening. "Dream Girl" evokes visions of transcontinental intrigue- the soundtrack to a truly tragic infatuation. The dark carnival atmosphere of "Trixie" is a wonderful parable– the freak show circus element of love, unearthed in musical form. L. Cedeno is an intriguing artist, forging rock solid and dreamy soft musical aspects into a highly listenable, cinematic pop-rock pastiche.
BlackBook Magazine - August 2002
From dreamy, wordless surf ballads to Euro tinged guitar pop- everything L. Cedeno does has a worldly sensibility to it. His songs could have been sneaky cinematic hits out of a 1969 Italian cult film release; Solid enough for Morricone and sexy enough for Brigitte Bardot.
Cedeno professes a natural tendency to love many facets of the music spectrum at large, which leaves the creative doors wide open for him to step through. The result of this musical palette , his improvisational nature, and "on the fly" studio savvy is a collection of works that is seductive and remarkably original.
